22nd annual Shortcakes on the Blacktop Will Be Here Soon

Posted:
Your mouth may already be watering because the 22nd annual Shortcakes on the Blacktop Strawberry Festival is coming up.

The Episcopal Cathedral of St. James is hosting the event, which will take place on Friday, June 13th from 11am to 5pm in the church's parking lot (117 N. Lafayette Boulevard, between Washington and Colfax, in South Bend).

The sweet treat is homemade shortcake with fresh strawberries, ice cream, and whipped cream.  And it's just $5.

The money raised from the festival will benefit A Rosie Place/O'Hana Heritage Foundation, St. Margaret's House, and Stone Soup Community.

New this year, the festival is going green -- using biodegradable containers, utensils, and napkins.

The day of the festival, delivery will be available in or near downtown South Bend, and to Notre Dame, between 11:00am and 2:00pm for orders of five or more shortcakes.  Pre-purchased tickets are guaranteed until 12:30pm.  Pre-orders are recommended for delivery or pick-up, and can be placed starting Monday, June 9th.  Call 574-904-2087 or 574-707-5130 to order.
