Elkhart County police investigating bike accident on County Road 35

One person is hurt after a bike accident in Elkhart County. Dispatchers say it happened on the 59000 block of County Road 35 around 4:15 this morning.

Elkhart County Police say Dennis Bontrager, 34, of Middlebury was struck while traveling north off to the side of County Road 35 when a pickup driven by Miciah Lambright, 17, of Millersburg, went off the road and collided with Bontrager's bike from behind. Police say the pickup then hit a fence on east side of the road. Lambright was not injured.

Bontrager was taken to a nearby hospital where police say he was treated for a gash on his face, a broken nose, a broken cheek and a small brain bleed.

County Road 35 was closed in both directions for four hours after the crash, and is now re-opened.
