Kernan's Heroes kicks off veterans donation drive

Posted:
You have no idea how many homeless veterans there really are.

That's according to Former Indiana Governor and former South Bend Mayor, Joe Kernan.  Kernan's Heros, a program named after him, helps homeless veterans in St. Joseph County.      They kicked off a donation drive to help homeless veterans.  Kernan was on hand at the American Legion Post 357 Monday asking people to help homeless vets trying to get back on their feet.  And he talked about how meaningful it is to help.

Former Indiana Governor, Joe Kernan says, "It would bring tears to the eyes of a rocking horse.  It's a great thing to see these people get back on their feet."

They need things like clothing, personal hygiene products, blankets, pillows and cleaning supplies.  And they have many locations collecting until Sunday.

From now through Sunday, donation items can be dropped off at any of following drop off locations in South Bend, Mishawaka and Elkhart:
