St. Joseph artist donating work to raise money for Dominican Republic

A St. Joseph, Michigan artist is selling thousands of dollars of work to raise money to send water filters to the Dominican Republic

B.J. Goetz says when she visited the Dominican Republic in 2012 and saw how many families lacked access to clean water, her mission became crystal clear.

Goetz decided to donate tens of thousands of dollars worth of art that will benefit the St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Rotary Club's effort to install water filters in the Caribbean nation.

The sale of lithographs, prints and cards will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 7-9 at Edgewater Bank, 321 Main St., St. Joseph.

Goetz, a Stevensville resident and Lakeshore Rotary member with a studio at the Box Factory for the Arts, will be available to meet with the public and sign autographs from 10 a.m.-noon May 8 and from 1-4 p.m. May 9.

The sale could pay for 1,500 water filters, affecting the daily lives of at least 15,000 people.
