Students help the needy by donating food

Local students are helping the needy.  Students in Elkhart held a food drive for the past several weeks and were able to deliver their results Thursday morning.  The three-week drive raised over 25,000 pounds of food.

Students we spoke to say it was great to see everybody help a worthy cause.  "It's awesome that kids are really pumped up about giving back to our community," says Maddy Keeslar a senior at Memorial High School. "It shows because we have so much food here right now."

The food was all donated to the Elkhart Food Bank.  In the past two years, Elkhart students have raised over 130,000 pounds of food.
