Students compete in state robotics championship

Students were showing off their smarts in Elkhart, Saturday.

It was the Indiana State Robotics competition at Northside Gym. The event hosted the top 24 teams in the state. This year's challenge was a three-on-three match where robots had to move balls down the field and into goals to score.

Teams have been competing for the past six weeks before making it to the state championship.

"It's more than just building the robots, it's a bunch of different personalities and traits coming out and putting together a team. That includes outreach and really making an impact on the community," says a team member from Greenwood Indiana, Tommy Ramirez.

The program is aimed at inspiring students to continue on to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics careers.
