Toll Road traffic stop leads to 87 pounds of marijuana seized

87 pounds of marijuana and 1076 grams of marijuana wax were seized Friday afternoon after an arrest prompted by a violation of Indiana's "move over" law.

Indiana State Police say they pulled over 59-year-old David Crane Pemberton when he failed to pull into the other lane away from a Toll Road worker doing maintenance on the side of the road.

Police say the stop took place at around 1:30pm near the 112 mile marker of the Toll Road in LaGrange County. Police say Trooper Ted Bohner became suspicious of Pemberton after talking to him and called for K-9 assistance. When K-9 unit Trooper Nicholas Meade and his dog, Sabre, arrived, Sabre immediately placed an alert on Pemberton's van. When officers searched the van, they found the drugs and arrested Pemberton for dealing and possessing marijuana.

Pemberton has been released on bond.
