Trial date set for suspect in Fremont Park homicide

Shyheem Jones, the 18-year-old suspect in a March homicide in South Bend, had his trial date set Tuesday.

Jones will face trial for Murder on Nov. 17. Until then, he is being held without bond by St. Joseph County.

Jones had been identified as the suspect in a March 18 shooting incident in Fremont Park that left 18-year-old Cornell Taylor dead and 20-year-old Brian Williams wounded.

Jones was arrested May 19 in an Indianapolis apartment complex by U.S. Marshals, according to police and prosecutors. He was transported back to St. Joseph County at the beginning of June.

At the time he was named as a suspect, police said that Jones was last known to be a student at Riley High School.
