Stolen car recovered after police chase in Mishawaka

A car reportedly stolen from Elkhart and its suspected thief were taken in by police this morning after a short chase in Mishawaka.

Mishawaka police say they arrested a man after he fled from an attempted traffic stop. Police claim they originally tried to pull his vehicle over for following an ambulance too closely. Police say the suspect tried to elude them until stopping at the intersection of W. Broadway Ave. and Marion St. and attempting to escape on foot.

After the suspect ran away down an alleyway, police say they searched the area and found him hiding in an abandoned garage in the 100 block of W. Broadway. When police checked the suspect's vehicle, they say they discovered it was reported stolen from Elkhart earlier in the morning.

Police say the suspect was arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement and Auto Theft.
