Woman injured after car hit by train

A woman is in the hospital after an Amtrak train collided with her car in New Buffalo.  New Buffalo police say 25-year-old Courtney Koblinski was heading north on Old M-60 near East Clay Street on Monday night around 7:30pm when the accident happened.

Koblinski was trapped in her Ford Taurus, and emergency responders had to free her when they arrived.  She was taken to a Michigan City hospital where she is currently listed as stable.

The train was carrying more than 150 passengers from Chicago to Grand Rapids at the time of the accident.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
