Golfers ready for Senior PGA Championship

This year's Senior PGA championship at Harbor Shores certainly has plenty of big name, like Tom Watson, a former Masters winner.

However, the past two years the tournament has not been won by a big name. Kohki Idoki and Roger Chapman are bother in Benton Harbor hoping to add their name to the trophy yet again.

"One thing they'll say is they'll never take your name off the trophy," said Chapman, who won in 2012 when the tournament was first played at Harbor Shores. "To be able to have done it is a culmination of all the work and all the practice and all the trials and tribulations, and the emotions that you go through to get to your goal."

Idoki won in 2013 at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis. It was the Japanese golfer's first trip to the United States and he's hoping he will enjoy his time in Michigan as much as he did in Missouri.

"I just want to challenge myself as new Idoki," Idoki said through a translator. "Just looking back I learned a lot, so I just want to challenge hard on this course and make it special."

Another golfer who could steal the show is two times Masters winner Bernhard Langer. The German golfer finished 4th at Harbor Shores for the 2012 Senior PGA Championship, but he wants to take the top spot this time.

"It certainly helps your confidence knowing that you have won majors at any level and on different golf courses," said Langer. "You've done it before and you can do it again."

The Senior PGA Championship begins Thursday morning at 9:00 AM at the Harbor Shores Golf Course in Benton Harbor, MI.
