Some police dogs in Berrien County are little bit safer now thanks to a nationwide fundraising campaign.  The Berrien County Sheriff's Department is one of the recipients of more than 350 protective armor for law enforcement dogs.

Groupon and Vested Interest in K-9s Inc. teamed up to collect donations to pay for the protective gear.  The armor is being donated in memory of a Pittsburgh canine officer named Rocco who died in the line of duty this past January.

In Berrien County the vests will go to the sheriff's department's two canine officers, Pokky and Nero.

Vested Interest in K-9’s Inc., a 501c(3) organization, is still accepting donations through their website: and via mail P.O. Box 9 East Taunton, MA. 02718.
