Memorial Day weekend is just about here and Michiana businesses are hoping to have a busy holiday. The weather is calling for a warm and sunny filled weekend. That has Outpost Sport's owner J.V. Peacock sharing a message. "Michiana it's time to get outside and play and you can do a lot of great things this weekend," Peacock.

One outdoor activity is bike riding.  Peacock says his stores have over 60 rental bikes and he's hoping to see them all out this weekend. "This will be the best weekend of the year so far so it's exciting," Peacock says. "People are busting with smiles when they come in here or any of our other stores because they want to get outside and they want to enjoy themselves."

Rupert's Resort and Campground in Bremen is looking for a busy holiday. Assistant Manager Pam Pal says all of the waterfront camp sites are booked. We're excited to see everybody out and about with everybody being cooped up and not being able to get out for months," Pal said.

Pal says it was easy to see the excitement isn't just found in the businesses. "I think we starting getting calls in February and March for camping. They were ready," Pal said.

Chad Warren is ready to go for the Memorial Day weekend. He has his RV parked at Rupert's campground and is spending the weekend with his grandchildren. He says he is grateful for the warm weather after the winter Michiana experienced.

"I work outside so it was real miserable for me," Warren said. "This is the first Memorial Day weekend we've had good weather so I'm looking forward to it."

The American Automobile Association estimates 36 million Americans will travel this Memorial Day weekend and go 50 miles or more. The top destination for travel according to Orbitz.com is Las Vegas, Other popular destinations includes Cancun, New York, Chicago, and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
