Indiana State Police hold memorial service

The Bremen Post of the Indiana State Police held their Police Memorial Service Friday.  Each year they meet to honor officers who have lost their lives while on active duty with the Indiana State Police.  Each name and how that person was killed is read while the police stand at attention.

Indiana State Police Sergeant Trent Smith says this is not only a time to remember, but a time to celebrate being with his fellow officers.  "It is a time for fellowship," Smith said, "there are dozens of people that work here at this district, and hundreds and thousands who work throughout the state, and even though you work out of the same office, you don't get to see them all the time.  It is really a time to build camaraderie back up, to see the people you work opposite shifts with, people who work in the same county who you haven't got to see in a long time."

Taps was played at the end of the memorial, followed by a lunch for the officers and their family members.
