Medical device manufacturers tell Senator Coats regulations are hampering expansion

Indiana Senator Dan Coats participated in a roundtable discussion with Indiana medical device manufacturers in Winona Lake Tuesday.  Coats says he got an earful about how Washington is standing in the way of expansion.

"What they have to go through to get a product approved through the FDA, the regulatory burdens, the tax burdens amd this egregious medical device tax is hampering this business from being more explosive and more influential," Coats says.

Coats says he will bring what he learned during the roundtable back to DC to try and once again convince his colleagues to repeal the medical device tax.  "It is a bi-partisan effort, it's both Democrats and Republican that have supported this, but the President has blocked it and Harry Reid has blocked it from coming to a vote."

Coat says he will keep pressing for a vote.  He believes if the vote to repeal the tax is called for, it will pass.
