Cancer survivors were getting ready for the Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure in a couple of Weeks.

They were decorating lady bugs for a ladybug garden that will be at the race on June 14th.

It's a way to memorialize those who have been lost and to encourage people who are still fighting the battle.

"(It's) another good day. It's my last treatment. No more chemo after today so it's wonderful," Sherry Chandler, cancer patient, said.

75 percent of the money raised stays in Northern Indiana to fund breast cancer programs and 25 percent goes to research.  It's more than a fundraiser for these patients and the organization.

"Its about giving hope to survivors," Sheri Miller, Executive Director of the Northern Indiana Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, said. "Its about giving hope to survivors. Its about creating breast cancer awareness. Breast cancer is still the second most dominant disease when it comes to affecting women in the U.S. One in eight will be diagnosed in their lifetime."
