Fundraiser being held to fight Alzheimer's

Alzheimer's is a growing problem in the US and this weekend, some people in Michiana are helping to fight it.

A walk is being held this Saturday at Newton Park in Lakeville to raise money for a local organization.  Alzheimer's and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana offers several free services to people that suffer from the disease.

Organizers say that people don't realize how big the problem is.  "We know we have 5.3 million Americans right now suffering with Alzheimer's and locally it might surprise you we're estimating around 8,000 people here in Saint Joe County," says Barbara Dzikowski of Alzheimer's and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana.

Registration for the walk is this Saturday is at 8:30am, the walk starts at 9:30am. If you would like to learn more about how you can help, call 574-232-4121.
