Police believe owner of the trailer was killed in Cass County fire.

One person is dead after a fire broke out in a trailer Thursday morning in Cassopolis.

Dispatchers say they received the call around 4:00am. Crews arriving on the scene found the trailer fully engulfed in flame. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly, but were unable to rescue the person inside. The trailer was located on the 17000 block of Chain Lake Rd.

Authorities cannot pinpoint the cause of the fire, but do not suspect foul play or arson. Police say a DNA test will be needed to positively identify the body of the victim, but they have determined the owner of the trailer was 78-year-old Lucy Pargo, who lived alone and has not been seen since.
