Job fair at Bethel College helps veterans find employment

Posted:
Congresswoman Jackie Walorski hosted a job fair Friday, featuring over 50 businesses and organizations at Bethel College.  The event was specifically for veterans in the morning and allowed the general public in the afternoon.

Rep. Walorski said it is important to take care of veterans and make sure they are able to find jobs when they enter back into civilian life.  "Our nation asks for people to voluntarily fight for our freedom," Walorski said, "I think it is so important when they come back into civilian life, no matter when they served, that they have the opportunity to put their skills to good use. Not only the skills they learned in the military, but in life."

Retired Navy veteran Chris Wolfe said veterans are no strangers to discipline and hard work.  "The service has many different leadership styles," Wolfe said, "everyone follows they same set of rules, but there are so many different varying leadership rolls, that a service member is going to be very adapted to fulfilling and serving under other leadership styles that not everyone else may be comfortable with."

It was expected that over 600 jobs would be available at the event.
