Chamberlain Elementary in Goshen receives $1.75 million in federal aid


Chamberlain Elementary in Goshen is getting some extra help from the federal government.

Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz announced eight Indiana schools that were selected to receive a combined $8.5 million in federal improvement grants. The one Michiana school out of the eight announced is Chamberlain Elementary, which will receive $1.75 million in School Improvement Grants.

According to the Indiana Board of Education release, the grants were awarded to schools that "demonstrate a great need for these funds, as well as a commitment to use these funds to raise achievement levels."

"I am honored to award these grants today," Ritz said, "These schools have demonstrated a great need for these funds, as well as excellent plans to improve student performance."

The grant is scheduled to be distributed over the course of three school years.
