UPDATE: 15-year-old stabbed with screwdriver by his 13-year-old brother in South Bend

Police says a dispute between two brothers ended in a stabbing this morning in South Bend.

South Bend Police Capt. Phil Trent said officers responded to a call shortly before 9:30am Friday morning on the 100 block of North Studebaker St. When they arrived, Trent says they found a 15-year-old boy stabbed in the back of the neck with a screwdriver.

Shortly after arriving on scene, Trent says police were able to find the suspect: the victim's 13-year-old brother. Police believe at this time that the two brothers were arguing, possibly over a piece of clothing, at a home on the 1300 block of West Liston St. After he was stabbed by his brother, the 15-year-old fled to Studebaker St., where he was originally found.

The 15-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital and is stable, according to police. The 13-year-old suspect is in custody on a preliminary charge of battery.

FOX28 has a crew at the scene and will provide updates as they become available.
