Charges filed against Thomas and Suzanne Stevens after March incident in South Bend; No charges brought against SBPD Officer Aaron Knepper

SOUTH BEND - The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's office filed charges against Thomas Stevens and his mother Suzanne for their role in a March altercation with police in South Bend.

According to the prosecutor's office, "unless further evidence in presented...no further individuals will be charged for any criminal act." South Bend Police say Officer Aaron Knepper, who was involved in the altercation, is still a midnights patrol officer. Now that the county's Metro Homicide unit is done with their investigation, a police spokesperson say "the case will be reviewed by Internal Affairs and the Office of Professional Standards."

Thomas Stevens is being charged with seven counts, three of which are felonies including Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Legend Drug and Resisting Law Enforcement. Suzanne Stevens is being charged on a misdemeanor count of Resisting Law Enforcement.
