SOUTH BEND - The final round of the Symetra Tour Road to the LPGA Four Winds Invitational saw a showdown between Lee Lopez and Nicole Vandermade. Lopez entered Sunday as the leader at nine under. Vandermade was just one stroke behind.

It was all squared up through 16 holes until Vandermade took the lead with an eagle. She would finish the tournament 12 under beating Lopez by one shot.

"This means so much. It's been a pretty long journey to get here so it means a lot,” Vandermade said. “It's been like a lot of struggles. Not necessarily getting it done when I needed to and just kind of stuck with it and believed in myself and had a group around me that believed in me as well so it just means a lot in this moment.”

"It was exciting. It was my first time leading and you know I was just out there trying to play my game and did my best. Left it out there. Wasn't good enough this week but there will be other weeks,” Lopez said. “Nicole played great. I made her play great which is good. That's what you need to do. If you get beat you sure hope that the other player plays good to beat you."

Vandermade shot a 68 finishing four under on Sunday. Lopez shot a 70 to finish two under in the final round.
