Indianapolis Colts to hand out backpacks stuffed with books in Michigan City

Michigan City - It may be summer but the Indianapolis Colts want to make sure kids read all year.

Tuesday, June 24, from 12:30 – 2 pm., 30 Northern Indiana foster children will join reps from Josam, the Indianapolis Colts and Cargo Services Inc. to kick off the 2014 Books for Youth season.

Books for Youth provides foster children in Indiana backpacks filled with 25 age-appropriate books. To date, the Books for Youth team has collected more than 800,000 books for this program and has distributed more than 7,500 backpacks to foster children in Indiana. The 2014 Books for Youth program is in its 8th year.

The Colts mascot Blue and Colts Cheerleaders, will be there with the Colts in Motion traveling museum.. Kids can get autographs from Colts Cheerleaders and Blue will get involved with the kids through a number of interactive game.
