Gay couples line up Thursday morning in South Bend

This is the happiest day of our lives.

That's what couples were saying this morning at the Saint Joseph County Courthouse.  Gay couples lined up to receive their marriage license.

"That's the way it's supposed to be, there's no reason that man and women can't get married so there's no reason women and women or man and man shouldn't be able to get married.  I just see it as fair, the kids are understanding it better these days so I think everyone should just get married as they want," says Nicole Davila of South Bend.

They expected to see other gay couples at the Saint Joseph County Courthouse, about 10 of them were there right when it opened. What they did not expect was that an ordained minister was also there offering to marry any of the couples for free.

"I'm here to get married as many people as I can today," says Reverend Tina Thompson.

Thompson says she was inspired by the judge's ruling on Wednesday. "I think that love should have no color, no age, no race, and no sexual preference so I'm here to support the gay community," says Thompson.
