New maintenance company coming to South Bend Airport in $6 million expansion

South Bend International Airport has another expansion in the works.

The South Bend Redevelopment Commission approved investment by the city to build a new facility to bring a new business to the airport. That business is Corporate Wings, a fixed-base operator company that provides fueling, cleaning and maintenance services for airplanes.

South Bend International Airport Executive Director Mike Daigle said they hope to have the paperwork done to begin construction on a new facility for Corporate Wings in the next 60 days. Daigle said the new facility is valued in excess of $6 million and is expected to bring 16-19 new jobs initially. If all goes according to schedule, it should be operational by the end of the year.
