More women are being diagnosed with ADHD

Women are becoming the new big group to be diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Between 2008 and 2012, the use of ADHD medications jumped 85% for women 24 to 36-years-old.

Doctors say the reason for this is that more women are going undiagnosed as children because their symptoms are hidden.  And then once they reach adulthood, coping with the disorder becomes too difficult.
So doctors are learning to look for different symptoms for different age groups.  They say women with the disorder are less attentive and report having a lot of discord in their lives.

Diagnosing an adult isn't easy because doctors must be able to identify symptoms that started when the person was a child.
