I&M reports power restored to 94% of customers

Posted:
UPDATE: It's been a long week for Michiana residents who lost power after Monday night's storms, but the light at the end of the tunnel should be coming on soon.

I&M reports they have restored power to 94% of customers in the region. They say just under 4,000 customers are still without power, with most of the outages being in Benton Harbor, where approximately 3,800 are without service. I&M claims they have fully restored service in Elkhart, and have 1,000 without power still in South Bend. They say they still have over 1,000 crew members working 16-hour shifts on the holiday.

I&M says they have already restored service to over 70,000 customers who lost service after this week's storms. In total, they report that over 170 poles were broken and 50 miles of power lines were downed by the weather.

I&M says Indiana customers will be fully restored tomorrow at 6 p.m. For Michigan customers power will be completely restored tomorrow at 11:59 p.m.

NIPSCO, which reported over 121,000 customers without power at one point this week, has just 956 outages reported as of Friday afternoon according to NIPSCO's website. In Goshen there are over 300 customers still without power.

You can keep track of outages at the websites for I&M and NIPSCO.
