Notre Dame football player released from National Letter of Intent and transfers to Indiana

Notre Dame linebacker Nile Sykes won't be suiting up for the Fighting Irish this fall. He was released him from his National Letter of Content which he signed with Notre Dame during the 2014 National Signing Day.

But he'll be staying in the state. Indiana University football head coach Kevin Wilson announced Sykes is on their roster.

In a news release Wilson said. "After Coach Kelly and Notre Dame released Nile from his National Letter Intent, he reached out to us," Wilson said. "We recruited Nile hard and he was a guy we really wanted. We are happy to have him and welcome him into our program."

Sykes was a member of the U.S. Under-19 National Team. He was ranked as the number 18 prospect in the state of Illinois by rivals. He will be eligible to play this fall. In the Hoosier's upcoming season.
