The Fourth of July weekend has lots of fire works as part of the celebration. But it's not the only thing people do that weekend. It also means it's that time of the year where thousands make their way to RedBud in Buchanan, Michigan to watch motocross racing.

The annual race drew in over 25,000 fans from all over the country. Some of those fans included Benjamin Stewart and his brother and friends.

"Experience is ungodly. You have everybody running around with hospitality. Everybody is super nice,” Stewart said. “You get a 'RedBud' out of almost anybody. Biggest time of the year around here in Michigan."

Stewart is a motocross driver himself, but was at Red Bud on Saturday as a fan. Going to Red Bud for the Fourth of July weekend is a tradition for him.

"Every year we got RedBud on the calendar. Everybody knows it's coming up,” Stewart said. “We love coming down here and we always are going to."

Amy Ritchie is an owner of RedBud. The track has been in her family since her parents bought it in 1972. The thousands of fans who make their way to Red Bud every year is a familiar sight for her.

"It's pretty cool. My dad's favorite thing was always seeing the waves of spectators go from one side of the hill to the other following the race,” Ritchie said. “Anytime you get the energy of a crowd like that, it's really exciting."

It comes as no surprise many of the fans come from out of state to watch the races. Jake Freund and his son are from Spring Grove, Illinois. He has been making the trip to Buchanan for about 10 years. "RedBud is probably the most gnarly race that you'll have experienced as a fan," Freund said.

The drive from his hometown to RedBud was about three hours. He says the drive didn't take any toll on him when comparing it to the experience he and his son would have. "Everything that goes on here is more than you could ever imagine. It's probably the best outdoor race in the United States," Freund said.

This was the 41st year races have been held at Red Bud.
