GreenLockers give away school supplies for teachers

Posted:
One organization learned that teachers across Michiana have to supply many of their students with school supplies. So, GreenLockers stepped up to help teachers have one less thing to worry about for the new school year.

GreenLockers collected new and slightly used school supplies, books, and clothes collected this year from students at the end of the 2013 school year. 55-local school's totaled nearly 25,000 pounds of supplies on "locker clean-out days". All supplies were sorted and organized by student organizations based on quality and function. Teachers stopped by Clay Church to pick up binders, books, markers, glue, and anything else they needed to add to their classrooms.

Ted Bryant of Green lockers says, "There is tremendous need right now in our area on many levels and too often that may result in community organizations being under-resourced. These distribution days provide an opportunity for local charities and teachers, who already are connected with the needs in our community, to get some basic materials for FREE."

There are three distribution locations where teachers can pick up supplies Friday, July 11th and Saturday, July 12th:

  • Clay Church (South Campus), 17646 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46637
  • Waypoint Community Church, 56893 CR 29, Goshen, IN 46528
  • Granger Community Church (Elkhart Campus), 2701 East Bristol Street, Elkhart, IN 46514

Pick-up times are from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

GreenLockers resources students locally, nationally and internationally through the distribution of school supplies. New and slightly-used school supplies, books and clothes are collected from area schools during their year-end locker clean-out days and subsequently given away freely to teachers and charitable organizations in the summertime.
