UPDATE: Pilot killed after small plane crashes into two Greenwood homes

GREENWOOD, Ind.—One person was killed after a small plane crashed into two houses in Greenwood, Ind. Friday afternoon.

Greenwood Police said the accident occurred near the intersection of Patterson and Main streets.

It was reported the plane took off from the Greenwood airport and lost power before crashing into two homes.

The pilot in the plane was killed and a passenger was transported to Methodist Hospital with serious injuries, said police.

Two people on the ground were slightly injured as they tried to save the passenger, said authorities.  One person sustained minor electrical shock after stepping on a power line that went down during the crash.  The another person suffered a sprained ankle.

An investigation is underway.
