Super hero pop culture events happening in Michiana

Michiana, get ready to be souped up on super heroes because the Hall of Heroes Super Hero Museum in Elkhart and Barnes & Noble at University Park Mall have joined forces to offer super hero themed community events --  like costumed appearances, costume contests, super hero themed activities, and more!

Below are the events that are currently planned for July and August at the Hall of Heroes Super Hero Museum and Barnes & Noble:
    
Hall of Heroes Batman Day - Saturday, July 19th, 10am - 4pm.  Come out to the museum for a festive party featuring costumed characters, buy exclusive merchandise, and see the original Batmobile from the 1960’s TV show.

Batman Day at Barnes & Noble - Wednesday, July 23rd at noon and 5pm.  There will be costumed characters from the Hall of Heroes.  Bat-themed activities, a costume contest, cosplay activity, photo ops, autograph stations, a trivia contest, and LEGO group building (Wayne Manor) in store.

DC Comics Spectacular - Saturday, July 26th at noon and 4pm.  There will be costumed characters from the Hall of Heroes, DC Comics themed activities, a costume contest, cosplay activity, photo ops, autograph stations, a trivia contest, and LEGO group building (Hall of Justice) in store.

Marvel Day - Saturday, August 2nd at noon and 4pm.  There will be costumed characters from the Hall of Heroes, Marvel Comics themed activities, a costume contest, cosplay activity, photo ops, autograph stations, a trivia contest, and LEGO group building (X-Men Mansion) in store.

    CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - A recently demoted executive entered a Loop office building in Chicago on Thursday morning and shot the company’s CEO before turning the gun on himself and committing suicide, authorities said. The shooting happened just before 10 a.m. at the ArrowStream company on the 17th floor of the Bank of America building, 231 S. LaSalle St. “Apparently he was despondent over the fact that he got demoted,” Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said.More >>

    Strong Thunderstorms moving through Michiana

    Strong Thunderstorms are on the move toward central La Porte County Friday afternoon. According to the National Weather Service, a strong thunderstorm is located near Westville moving East at 10 miles per hour. One-half inch diameter hail, 40 mph or higher wind gusts, lighting and heavy downpours are expected. La Porte, Kingsford Heights, Pinhook, Pinola, Union Mills, Kingsbury and Tracy are in the path of the storm. This includes interstate 80 and 90 between mile markers 38 and 47.More >>
