PISTONS-MEEKS

Pistons hope Meeks can bolster perimeter

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - The Detroit Pistons formally introduced guard Jodie Meeks on Monday after signing the free agent to a $19.5 million, three-year deal.

The Pistons hope Meeks will help bolster their perimeter shooting after he averaged a career-high 15.7 points last season for the Los Angeles Lakers, taking advantage of the opportunity that came about because of Kobe Bryant's injury problems.

Meeks has averaged 9.7 points over his five-year career.

Only one Detroit player in 2013-14 - Kyle Singler - shot over 34 percent from 3-point range while playing major minutes. The Pistons couldn't take advantage of big men Andre Drummond, Greg Monroe and Josh Smith because of the team's inability to produce outside the paint.

MICHIGAN ST-HALL OF FAME

Flozell in Michigan State's hall of fame class

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Former Michigan State football player Flozell Adams will be inducted into the school's athletic hall of fame in September.

Michigan State announced Monday that Adams will enter the hall, along with wrestler Greg Johnson, football player Buck Nystrom, tennis player Sue Selke, softball player Kathy Strahan and gymnast Dave Thor.

The induction ceremony is Sept. 18, and the hall of famers will be recognized Sept. 20 during Michigan State's football game against Eastern Michigan.

Adams played at Michigan State from 1994-97, and the 6-foot-7 offensive lineman was a three-year starter.

He went on to play 13 seasons in the NFL, mostly with the Dallas Cowboys.

MICHIGAN-GLASGOW

Michigan's Graham Glasgow gets probation for booze

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Michigan offensive lineman Graham Glasgow has been sentenced to 12 months' probation after pleading guilty to operating a vehicle while visibly impaired.

Glasgow also received six days of community service and $885 in fines and court costs Monday in Ann Arbor's 15th District Court.

Glasgow pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor last month.

As part of a plea deal, prosecutors amended the charge from operating while intoxicated to operating while visibly impaired. The plea stems from a March 15 incident.

Michigan coach Brady Hoke suspended Glasgow for part of spring practice and the season-opening game against Appalachian State. As a sophomore last season, Glasgow made nine starts at center and four at left guard.

US Roster

US chooses 19 players for men's basketball roster

(AP) - Derrick Rose and four returnees from the 2012 Olympic men's basketball champions are among the 19 players selected for this summer's U.S. national team roster.

Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, James Harden and Anthony Davis were the four holdovers announced Monday, along with new additions DeMar DeRozan of Toronto and Chandler Parsons, who is leaving Houston for Dallas.

Players will report to training camp in Las Vegas this month, with the roster cut to 12 for the World Cup of Basketball in Spain.

Rose is trying to make the team after his NBA season was cut short by another knee operation.

The rest of the roster: Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, Blake Griffin, Paul George, Damian Lillard, Gordon Hayward, DeMarcus Cousins, Bradley Beal, Andre Drummond, Kenneth Faried and Kyle Korver.
