Hundreds compete in local dog show

Hundreds of dogs competed in the second annual Hoosier Tire Classic Dog Show.

Many of these dogs had been preparing for months.  The handlers we spoke to say it takes a special dog top compete for best in show.  And the handlers like Katie Martin put in countless hours.

"He's on the road usually about 3 weekends a month, and by weekend I mean it's usually Wednesday to Sunday," says Martin.

An Irish Wolf Hound won best in show.  Judge Rita Biddle says the hound separated itself from the others.

"This is just an excellent example of the Irish Wolf Hound, I've been judging a long time and this is one of the best I've seen," says Biddle.

The four day show continues Saturday and Sunday from the Saint Joseph County Fairgrounds.  Admission is five dollars per car load.
