The RV/MH Hall of Fame grew a bit larger on Monday night as the 2014 Hall of Fame class was inducted. Ten individuals from the industry throughout the nation were selected for the honor.

The class includes Debbie Brunoforte, Bob Livingston, Peter B Orthwein, John D Roba, James F Shields, Barry Cole, Ed Evans, Thomas L. Kern, Richard King, and Gary McDanial,

RV/MH Hall of Fame President Darryl Searer has been in the industry since 1958. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2008. "I know what the feeling is and it's one of the highlights of my life. And I'm sure the inductees here tonight are feeling that same thing," Searer said.

RV/MH Hall of Fame Chairman Barry Cole is nearing his retirement. But before that time comes, he will have his name engraved in the Hall of Fame. "It's the greatest thing in the world. Gave my life, 43 years to this industry. It's the greatest thrill of my life being inducted," Cole said.

Thor Industries calls Elkhart home and has a number of plants throughout the Michiana area. One of their members, Executive Chair Peter Orthwein, was among those inducted. "This has been a great honor. I've been in the industry for 37 years and I've met many wonderful talented people and to be honored this way is very humbling,” Orthwein said.

Orthwein says the recession hit the RV industry hard, but sales are starting to pick up once again. Orthwein says one things remains constant through it all. "Elkhart is a wonderful community. The workers here are fantastic They're very motivated. We have a very good workforce," Orthwein said.

Searer says the letters RV and Elkhart are synonymous. "We are the one and only RV/MH Hall of Fame anywhere tin the world. We're one of a kind and so we fit right in,” Searer said."Elkhart is the RV capital of the world."

The RV/MH Hall of Fame is open to the public so anyone can check out the history of RV's and visit the library there as well. There is also an event center which holds non-RV related outings as well.
