UPDATE: 2-year-old admitted into hospital with suspicious injuries taken into protective custody in a stable condition

UPDATE: Elkhart Police have taken the 2-year-old boy who was sent to the emergency room with suspicious injuries into protective custody, according to a press release by the Elkhart Police.

The Elkhart Police said the boy remains hospitalized in Indianapolis, and his medical status has been upgraded to stable. The 2-year-old no longer requires a ventilator and is beginning to respond.

Elkhart Police said the criminal investigation is still active and on-going, but no arrests have been made.

PREVIOUS: Elkhart Police are investigating "suspicious" injuries to a 2-year-old boy. Sunday afternoon police were sent to the emergency room at Elkhart General Hospital where a 2-year-old was being treated for several injuries.

Police are calling the injuries "suspicious."

The child is in critical condition and has been transferred to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis.

No arrests have been made.
