TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - An environmental group is looking for volunteers to participate in its annual trash pickup along Great Lakes shorelines.
The Chicago-based Alliance for the Great Lakes will host the Adopt-a-Beach event Sept. 20, as part of the International Coastal Cleanup campaign.
Volunteers can join scheduled cleanups that are open to public or lead their own event. Individuals, businesses, communities and schools are among the organizers.
Teams collected more than 16,600 pounds of trash along 239 coastal locations during last September's cleanup.
