Columnist declares war on GOP Candidate Ted Cruz in response to Cruz's declaration of war on the "liberal media"

There's still a lot of talk about Wednesday's CNBC GOP Primary debate in Colorado.  FOX News reports the RNC is suspending its partnership with NBC news in the wake of the debate.

The following is from FOXNews.com: Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus -- as he works to address presidential candidates' frustration with the debate process in the wake of this week's CNBC face-off -- announced Friday that the RNC is "suspending the partnership" with NBC News for an upcoming February debate.

Priebus delivered the news -- the latest fallout from a controversial CNBC debate on Wednesday -- in a letter to NBC News Chairman Andrew Lack. He noted that CNBC is one of their media properties, even if they do not exercise full editorial control over the network.

Complaining that the CNBC debate was "conducted in bad faith," Priebus said they need to ensure there is not a repeat performance and will suspend the partnership for a planned debate at the University of Houston on Feb. 26, 2016.

"The RNC's sole role in the primary debate process is to ensure that our candidates are given a full and fair opportunity to lay out their vision for America's future. We simply cannot continue with NBC without full consultation with our campaigns," Priebus said in the letter, while insisting they would still have a debate on Feb. 26.

NBC News, in a statement, called the move a "disappointing development" but said the network would "work in good faith to resolve this matter with the Republican Party."

"It's very popular in Republican Primary to whack back at the moderators and make the mainstream media the issue,"  says FOX News Media Buzz Host Howard Kurtz.

At one point during Wednesday's debate Ted Cruz took issue with the questions being asked by the CNBC panel. Columnist Rex Huppke reports he received a fundraising email from Cruz that said, “I am declaring war on the liberal media.”

Now Huppke is declaring war on Ted Cruz.  The following is his Official Declaration of War published in his column on October 29, 2015:

OFFICIAL DECLARATION OF WAR:

Whereas Ted Cruz has formally declared war against the people of the mainstream (or lamestream or liberal) media of the United States of America:

Therefore, be it Resolved by the Secret Cabal of Liberal Media Overlords that the state of war between the media and Ted Cruz, which has thus been thrust upon the media by Ted Cruz being a total jerk, is hereby formally declared. Rex Huppke, as a representative of the media, is hereby authorized and directed to employ the entire forces available to the media, including but not limited to: pens that can be waved in a menacing manner; paper-cut inducing notepads; barrels of ink; and limitless Internet space, to carry on war against Ted Cruz and to bring the conflict to a successful termination.

Strap on your boots, Teddy boy. We’re comin’ for ya now. And we’ve got the weapon you fear the most: the truth.
