The Elkhart County Salvation Army is striving to collect as many Care Baskets as possible to give to each family that has applied for Christmas assistance. They have received over 800 applications so far.
A Care Basket includes:
- Laundry Basket
- Laundry detergent
- Bathroom cleaner
- Disinfectant/Air Freshener
- Chlorine bleach
- Dish soap
- Dishcloths and Dishtowels
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- Paper napkins
- Shampoo
- Toothpaste
- Deodorant
- Bath Soap
Other items that the Salvation Army is also in need of include:
- Blankets
- Coats
- Cleaning supplies
- Diapers/Wipes
- Food
- Hats and Mittens
- Personal care products
- Sleeping bags
- Socks
- Money for the community breakfast program and utility assistance program
Gifts for teens ages 15-17 who are still in school and not adopted:
- Gift cards to local restaurants: Subway, Taco Bell, etc.
- Gift cards to movie theatres
- Generic MP3 players
