Even in these hard economic times, many of you have reached out to help those in need.
FOX 28 is proud to announce the Salvation Army had an overwhelming response for the Adopt-a-Family program.
Workers at the Salvation Army say the number of people contacting them about adoptions is up 78%.
Liz Fallon is the Social Services Director at Salvation Army and says the response says a lot about our community.
Fallon says, "I'm glad to be a part of it. I know we're just one of the numerous agencies in town that do a lot of different things during the holiday season, and for people to contact us and do this Adopt-a-Family program has really been inspiring."
Last year the Salvation Army adopted 101 families, and this year 180 families have been adopted.
